The University of Thessaly (UTH) (Partner 2) was founded in 1984 with main mission the promotion of scientific knowledge through research and the contribution to the cultural and economic development of the local community and wider society.

It is known for its excellent research performance and outstanding scientific achievements, in accordance with the international standards. The excellent equipped laboratories of the different Departments and Research Units have a number of well trained researchers to support them. The members of the academic and research staff participate in European research networks and numerous innovative research projects in the EC.

University of Thessaly (UTH) is a member of the Greek EURAXESS Services Network since its establishment and serves the geographic area of Thessaly, Sterea Hellas and Aegean Islands. Responsible for the operation of the EURAXESS offices in UTH has been nominated the Industrial Liaison Office of the UTH which represents the University in the project. The Liaison Office of UTH has a lot of experience in serving researchers. The Liaison Office has served during the past years thousands of mobile researchers (1990 questions in the year 2011), has showed great initiative in the framework of EURAXESS Jobs, publishing approximately 230 vacancies per year (almost 50% of the Greek published vacancies) and has organised various informative visits about Research, Innovation and Researchers not only in-house but also in schools promoting the researcher’s profession. Furthermore, at the initiative of the Liaison Office, UTH has undersigned the C&C principles and at the moment with the assistance of the 3rd Institutional Human Resources Strategy Group”, a Human Resources Strategy respecting the principles of C&C is being drafted.

Key personnel:

Nikitas Mylopoulos is currently Associate Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering, University of Thessaly and scientific responsible of the Liaison Office of UTH. His major research interests are in the fields of Water Resources Engineering and Management, Groundwater Hydrology, and Decision Making under Conditions of Uncertainty. Until now he has published over 50 papers in international scientific journals and in conference proceedings. He has participated in a large number of research projects financed by Greek Ministries, Organizations and by the European Union, as a research fellow or as scientific responsible.

Antonis Papantoniou (MBA) is the leader of UTh working group. He is Director of the Industry & Services Liaison Office of University of Thessaly and the responsible of the MoC of UTH.

Dimitris Toufexis (MBA, Information Technology) is the IT manager of the Industry & Services Liaison Office of University of Thessaly and is also the portal administrator of the Euraxess Contact Point of UTH.
